Over time, the dish evolved into the Vindaloo curry when it received the Goan treatment of adding malt vinegar to the recipe. The Curry Traders have perfected this recipe by replacing the malt vinegar with lemon juice for added flavour and to enhance the traditional spices.

Over a period of two hours, this dish will be ready to be served along side basmati rice to accentuate the peppery combination of spice and flavours. Add naan bread and natural yogurt to help ease the spice and to let the flavours stand out in this spiced curry. Beef Vindaloo Curry Recipe
This peppery curry is said to be the world’s hottest – we have toned ours down just a little, for your enjoyment.
- 1 x Vindaloo Curry Traders Kit
- 1kg to 1.5kg beef diced or meat of choice
- 5 cloves garlic crushed
- 1 tblspn ginger crushed
- 1 tblspn oil of your choice
- 4 brown onions
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- 140g (little tub) tomato paste
- 1 tblspn sugar
- 3 potatoes diced
- 2 cups beef stock
How to Make
Roast BAG 1 in a dry saucepan until fragrant. Set aside.
1. Grind contents of BAG 2 in mortar & pestle.
2. Stir in lemon juice, sugar, ginger, garlic and BAG 3. This is your paste. Set aside.
In a large saucepan heat oil over low heat.
3. Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes.
4. Stir in paste and cook for 5 mins.
Turn up heat and stir in beef until browned.
5. Pour in stock and BAG 4. Bring to boil then reduce heat to simmer.
6. Stir in tomato paste and BAG 1.
Cover and cook for 2 hours or until meat is nearly tender.
7. Add potatoes.
Cook for a further 45 mins or until beef is cooked to perfection.
Add extra pinch of salt, squeeze of lemon juice or sugar to taste.
Serving with basmati rice, naan bread and natural yoghurt.
